The Gansevoort Co-op

This project will provide low-income housing to underpaid food service workers in West Chelsea. This co-op will minimize the commute between work and home by providing a live-work program to workers in the neighborhood and in the existing Gansevoort meatpacking warehouse that this housing was built upon. This housing complex provides large, airy communal kitchens in order to create a safe area for families to raise children and trade shared services, thus addressing the rising costs of living in this rapidly gentrifying neighborhood.
