Saco Lake Bathhouse

Sited near the iconic Saco Lake, this bathhouse creates an ethereal inner sancutary, an escape from the ruggedness of the surrounding forest. The building engages Elephant Creek by incorporating it into the reception pavilion, inviting users into the building with the rush of running water. A modular timber roof canopy creates dynamic light wells and a playful, engaging interior organized by an overarching grid system. Here, the play of light, water, and circulation guide users throughout the bathhouse facilities and provide calming, illuminating moments during their stay away from nature.
